Over 3,000 Ohioans are in need of life-saving organ transplants and the number on the list grows every year. Organ, eye and tissue donation provides a second chance for life.  Many outstanding projects have been supported with dollars raised through the Second Chance Trust Fund since its founding in 1997. These projects have raised awareness about the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation throughout Ohio, and include: the establishment of the Ohio Donor Registry; organ and tissue donation awareness materials for driver education classes; a nursing school curriculum; and statewide media campaigns.

In December 2000, Governor Bob Taft signed Senate Bill 188, which created the Ohio Donor Registry to make it easier for Ohioans to make a personal commitment to organ, eye and tissue donation. The Second Chance Trust Fund works in partnership with the BMV to increase knowledge about the Registry and to increase the number of Ohioans who join the Registry to help those in need.

No tax funds are used by the Second Chance Trust Fund.  Monetary contributions support donation education in Ohio and give hope to thousands of Ohioans waiting for a second chance at life. 

Make a contribution to the fund at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles  when you apply or renew your Ohio driver's license or state I.D. or make your check payable to the Second Chance Trust Fund and mail to: Ohio Department of Health, SCTF, 246 North High Street, 8th Floor, Columbus, OH 43215.
