On June 30, 2007, my son, who has cystic fibrosis, received lungs and a liver at the Hospital of Philadelphia. He is 31 years old. When diagnosed at the age of 3, we were told the average life expectancy was 9. We are truly grateful to the donor and family for our son's second chance at life.
Our beloved grandson received a liver transplant July 17, 2006; two weeks before his 3rd birthday. He waited 3 1/2 months. We are thankful to God, the transplant team at Texas Children's Hospital and most importantly the family of a CHILD that could see through their grief enough to DONATE those beautiful, healthy organs!!! Our William now looks like he has never been sick a day in his life when so many days we could have lost him!! He looks forward to starting preschool in teh fall.
My donor showed me that Life is beautiful; what an amazing Gift to share!
My 14-year-old daughter received a liver transplant on October 18, 2005. She was listed for approximately 48 hours before a liver was located, a perfect match. She was transplanted only 1 week after first meeting the transplant team. She became very ill very fast. She is well on her way to recovery. We are so greatful (beyond words) for organ donation and the chance for our daughter to continue to be a part of our lives. She now has a Second Chance to continue to be the the wonderful young woman that she is. Thank you so much. Without you her life would not be possible.
Life is so precious, thanks to my donor
